Creative and expressive arts through the early years and beyond – music, movement, dance, story and more..


This creative and expressive arts course offers theory and experiential opportunities that will deepen your understanding of embodiment and biocentric movement. You will discover ways to engage children supporting their development learning, and wellbeing through music, movement, dance, and art.

Through the language of art, music, and movement and dance, drawing on High Scope key development indicators, the Laban movement framework and Biodanza system for children you will explore new ways to support children’s physical development, creativity, emotional integration and self-expression.

Biodanza is THE scientifically researched children’s movement system, mentioned in the Oxford Handbook of Dance for Wellbeing.

Movement is the art of life, it is an expression of who we are.

When we play games, dance, move and use the power of music, imagination, and activity for engagement. They have fun learning and developing freely.

Who is this workshop for?

Teachers, parents, educators, early years practitioners and professionals, childminders, therapists and anyone working or caring for young children through their early years to key stage 1.

This day is for you if you are interested in learning more about the embodiment of experience; music semantics and bio-development.  Engaging children physically, socially and emotionally.

What will you do?

Participant in discussions and exercises that will help you to reflect on music, art and movement, emotion, identity, and social expression.

images-3You will learn about different forms of movement to support physical development and know how to use music powerfully and creatively.

You will move, dance and engage in dramatic games and stories.

What will you get?

  • You will have more confidence and knowledge about how to use expressive arts: music and movement with children in your school or setting and you will understand the many different aspects of movement for; health, wellbeing, posture, strength, relationships and communication and self-expression.
  • You will know how to support children’s learning in all of the EYFS Prime and specific areas through various art mediums.
